Villain, an independent producer and publisher of portable game, announced Archetype a new and intense online multiplayer FPS game for iPhone and iPod Touch. Archetype will be fully compatible with iPhone 4 “Retina Display” technology. Archetype is scheduled for a worldwide release via iTunes in early July for just US$2.99. It will be a full-featured online FPS with multiplayer FPS deathmatches with teams, experience points, and player ranks. Starting as a lowly cadet immersed in battle with team-based deathmatches, players can earn higher ranks to advance as they build a reputation, earn experience points, and win medals, including each match’s “MVP” medal. Up to ten players can fight at one time – two to five players per team battling across five different levels. Archetype will allow a   player rank-based team matchmaking, buddy lists, and radar-based enemy tracking. Archetype’s portable iPwnage offers a console experience on the go, either over Wi-Fi, 3G, or even Edge. Will Archetype confirm the trend that mobile game are not only for casual gamers and that hardcore gamers can find game which make them happy? Villain bet it will!
Archetype is developed by MunkyFun which  has already developed games for PC, major consoles and iPhone / iPod. Their games range from blood and gore console, to puzzle games and even young kids’ games for the iPhone with both original and globally recognized IP’s. They also develop non-gaming apps for iPhone and have been involved in confidential contracting on undisclosed prototype hardware. They are currently working on a project codenamed “Horse” in collaboration with NaturalMotion using their advanced animation system morpheme. They are also developing for Xbox live a new shooter built around DMM Technology called Stay Dead and are developing PowerGig for Seven45 Studios.
