Bewitching Playdead’s title Limbo tops Xbox Live Arcade sales charts

In the XBLA rankings for the week of July 26, Playdead’s game, Limbo took the first place in the Arcade sales category and tenth place in overall Live activity. On July 21st, Limbo was released on Xbox Liva Arcade as part of the Summer of Arcade promotion and it was well received. Leading industry websites among which IGN, VGChartz, GamingExcellence, G4TV and GameSpot awarded Limbo with 10 nominations and four wins in different categories of “Best of E3”. A review by Joystick stated that “Limbo’s true impact is achieved through emptiness and simplicity”. The visuals, the sound, and the gameplay are all great tastes. The lack of graphical effects makes the game striking. Destructoid in a review said that “Limbo is as close to perfect at what it does as a game can get. It’s artistic without being pompuous, difficult without being cheap, and violent without being gratuitous. It gets everything just right.”
The player is sent in a simple but cruel atmosphere fraught with puzzles and traps. In this virtual world with monochrome colors, players will have to explore everything without any help. They will found themselves in a black and white universe. The game starts when the protagonist, a small boy, wakes up in a dark forest. Players will have to traverse perilous terrain, solve puzzles and find a way forward and out. They will have to scan the setting in search of objects with which they can interact. But the small boy is not alone… and death is everywhere. Nearly every mistake results in death, often leaving the small boy dismembered or gored.
Limbo deserves to be played. Its universe is simply bewitching!
