Have you ever wanted to be part of the book you are reading? Have you ever wanted to climb inside the books and meet the people? Chris Tolworthy decided to make a world where we can to that. Chris Tolworthy’s leitmotiv is to make games based on the greatest stories ever written. So he decided to create Enter The Story.
Enter The Story is a thirty year project to convert one hundred of the world’s greatest classics into adventure games. This will include all thirty-seven of Shakespeare’s plays.
Enter The Story latest game is A Tale of Two Cities – a PC adventure game – based on the novel of Charles Dickens. It is a 2D point and click game. Every character can interact with every other character and every object in every screen. There are more fully mobile characters than any previous Enter The Story game. The game includes over thirty locations to walk between and explore, many filled with people; over 100 musical tracks; mini-games integral to the story, including the storming of the Bastille; a non-stop drama of love, sacrifice, death, and inner and outer conflict.
The game will allow the players to enter Charles Dickens’ classic story of the French Revolution. What is A Tale of Two Cities all about? The novel depicts the plight of the French peasantry demoralized by the French aristocracy in the years leading up to the revolution, the corresponding brutality demonstrated by the revolutionaries toward the former aristocrats in the early years of the revolution, and many unflattering social parallels with life in London during the same time period. It follows the lives of several protagonists through these events, most notably Charles Darnay, a French once-aristocrat who falls victim to the indiscriminate wrath of the revolution despite his virtuous nature, and Sydney Carton, a dissipated British barrister who endeavours to redeem his ill-spent life out of his unrequited love for Darnay’s wife, Lucie Manette. It’s a story of love and sacrifice set in London and Paris in the late 1700s, featuring the fall of the Bastille, the Great Terror, intense love, massive death, noble sacrifice, world changing revolution, eternal conflicts, and spies.
A Tale of Two Cities is available for $7.99, or available in a package of four games for $14.99 All games link together.
Enter The Story next game will be the Count of Monte Cristo, scheduled for release before Christmas. Players can even vote on the next story to adapt, and can send in their photos and have their likenesses used for characters in the game. Enter the story has already released Hesiod’s Theogony, Dante’s Inferno and Les Misérables which is now available for free.
