After Worms 2 : Armageddon for iPhone and iPad and now Alien Breed Impact for XBLA and PSN, is Team 17 embracing digital distribution?
MCV reports that the British developer  is now taking serious steps to cement itself as a digital producer. Co-founder Martyn Brown feels it’s easier to get attention for their products online than in crowded store shelves. “We have no ambitions to return to retail publishing,” he said. Brown also says that the team will be working with indie developers to bring games to download services like Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network, and the Apple App Store. “I think that given the general malaise of the third party publisher ‘work-for-hire’ market, it is no surprise that a lot of developers are heading towards digital publishing as some kind of saviour.”
Team 17’s management team has been restructured to accompany the transition to full digital distribution, with Martyn Brown acting as business development director and Debbie Bestwick handling both managing director and sales and marketing director positions. Mark Baldwin also steps into the role of community manager, and Paul Kilburn and John Dennis will work as head of production and head of design respectively.
